It was a powerful week of inspiration and conversation as NCWNSW Members attended events throughout the week-long celebrations spanning the 4th – 11th March 2024.
President Yvette Kinkade spoke at The City of Sydney Seniors in the Community about Safety in Public Spaces and spoke to Endeavour High School students as part of their IWD celebrations. Yvette facilitated part of the Kur-ing-gai Council Lifelong Financial Education forum and participated in the Youth Forum, where representatives from local schools workshopped ideas for gender equity within their communities.

We were proud to present a panel discussion with women representing Fire and Rescue NSW, Construction and Banking who are fostering paths in male-dominated industries and loving it! The conversations were informative, inspiring, and often funny and the panellists, Megan Stiffler – Deputy Commissioner Fire and Rescue NSW, Casey Sayers – Managing Director at NU Projects PL. A 100% indigenous female-owned construction company and Stevie Ann Dovico – Chief Information Officer – Beyond Bank / 2022 Executive Leader of the Year – Women in Digital, were brilliant.

Members attended the Women’s Club Breakfast, The Financial Advice Association Australia event and the Quota Illawarra Luncheon just to name a few.
President Kinkade said, “The common themes from this week have been male allyship, breaking gender bias, and being inquisitive. We are the architects of our future, and remaining authentic in pursuing equity, irrespective of gender, is key.”
“Look for advocates and mentors to inspire, learn from, and champion the path. Volunteer; it’s life-changing. Listen lots; everyone has a pearl of wisdom to share. Read everything you can get your hands on and always reflect on how to be a better ally so you can be a catalyst for meaningful impact”
Now to work. 💪🏼 Happy International Women’s Day!
